New Star

I was lucky enough to be able to shoot this image after the performance was over, so that I could take a long exposure on a tripod. The actresses had to keep very still.

Quilters

The current production of Quilters at the Frederick Loewe Theatre in Redlands, is wonderful. Creatively directed by Carey Curtis Smith, with an outstanding cast and musicians, plus the terrific set design by Robin Roberts. It's a must go and see, but you only have tonight, till Sunday. Call 909.748.8028 for reservations.

Macbeth.

The production of this very atmospheric Macbeth was Directed by Steve Shade. I used several layers of imagery to achieve the finished poster, which also included photographing Macbeth laying on the floor to get the right posture, and then turning the photo around. Shakespeare wrote the play around 1603, and it may have been performed for King James in 1605.

Talking Heads.

These images, which were shot separately , and then formed into a grid, are from one of Beckett's short plays, and directed by Chris Beach in 2008, and performed at the Wallich Theatre in Redlands, California.

Odette.

This photo of the ballerina Anye Roth was taken backstage against a very uninteresting background, so I created the scene from Swan Lake by adding one of my landscape photos with a reflection in the foreground. The post production can often take more time than the initial shot.

Muse of Fire.

The curtain was something I added later to the image to create more mystery. I set the curtain up in my studio and tried to create the same kind of lighting as on the figure. I also softened the focus on the curtain, to get a feeling of more more depth to the whole image. I also placed the title of the play in the space left by the flown arrow, for a finishing touch.
